The Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI) Criminal Justice Planning Agency (CJPA) is the administering agency for several federal programs from the Office of Justice Programs, U.S. Department of Justice, and one program from the U.S. Department of the Interior.
The federal programs cover a wide spectrum of areas of law enforcement, youth development, skill development, criminal justice system improvements, training and technical assistance.
In addition, these federal program also cover the improvement of criminal history records, the collection, analysis, publication, and dissemination of timely and accurate statistical information on crime, criminal offenders, victims of crime, and the operations of the justice systems at levels of government. Other areas these programs cover provides financial assistance to states and territories to develop and strengthen law enforcement, prosecution, and victim services in cases involving violent crimes against women.
Furthermore, other programs provided critical drug law enforcement and prosecution resources assists in reducing crimes, enforcing state and local drug laws . Other programs provide seed money to states and territories for services targeted at juvenile delinquency prevention through education, training, recreation and other rehabilitative services.
